Ingredients
- 1 cup Golden Crisco
- 1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
- ¼ cup molasses
- ¼ cup water
- 3 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 ½ tbsp cinnamon
- 1 ½ tsp ginger
- 1 ½ tsp cloves
- ½ tsp salt
Preparation
- Cream crisco, brown sugar, molasses, and water together thoroughly
- Combine dry ingredients. Stir into creamed mixture gradually and mix well.
- Work dough with hands to form a smooth dough.
- Cover and chill for 1-2 hours for easier rolling.
- Heat oven to 350F.
- Line baking sheets with parchment.
- Roll dough to approximately 6mm on floured surface. Cut into shapes.
- Bake at 350F for 10-12 minutes or until edges are slightly hardened.
- Cool and decorate as desired
